CCS Prepay was approached by a consultancy which represented one of the worlds largest IT and telecommunication companies. A significant aspect of the clients sales revenue is derived from independent reseller organisations who sell the clients products and services in their respective local markets. Points are awarded depending on the product and service sold and the accumulation of points leads to a number of online gifts and awards which can then be redeemed.
CCS Prepay was approached because one of the additional redemption services required was the ability for accumulated points to produce cash rewards. However the dispatching of checks or wire transfers to resellers was deemed to be ineffective due to the costs involved. CCS Prepay formulated a product offering in collaboration with a scheme partner where the solution would be an open loop re-loadable gift card that could be used for ATM withdrawals, point of sale purchase and online purchases. The re-loadable aspect of the gift card provided an advantage over mainstream gift cards in that it could be reloaded up to a maximum of three times thus increasing longevity to the card usage and functionality before it needed to be replaced once it had reached its maximum reload capacity. Since there are no know your customer (KYC) requirements for gift card issuance the cards are continually sent to the client in bulk for them to instantly issue to their resellers to cover the demand for this form of cash redemption.
